THE PROCESS – WHAT WE DO
Understanding your challenge – RAWTEK has a wide ranging experience covering a broad spectrum of industries and technologies, so we are able to quickly appreciate the nature of the challenge and the kinds of technical expertise that will be required to develop a solution. We break the challenge down into its basic fundamental (raw) engineering elements; particularly useful where these sit outside your own core areas of competence.
Involving industry experts – RAWTEK connects into the relevant industries and technological expertise to ensure a deep understanding and capability is brought into the project team.
Creating solution concepts – RAWTEK uses recognised innovation methods to drive the concept generation process; such as systematic innovation, creativity tools and 8D problem solving methodologies.
Identify – source – develop – RAWTEK looks for available technologies first before moving into developing new technology. Utilising existing technology that can be adapted or integrated to provide a workable solution is usually the fastest and lowest risk route. The inspiration for solutions is often found by looking across industry borders. (cross-sector fertilisation of ideas)
Delivering results through collaboration – RAWTEK is a collaborative working specialist, with over 25 years of experience delivering results through collaboration with individuals, businesses large and small, universities and other research and development organisations.
Your Project Champion – complex multi-party research and development needs strong disciplined leadership. RAWTEK acts as your Project Champion to manage the various stakeholders and drive a successful outcome.
I bring 25 years’ experience developing game changing ideas and solutions for new products and processes across a wide spectrum of industries; taking more than 50 products from concept right through the development cycle; well over £500m realizable end market value.
Some examples of my work include; improved pipeline performance for Oil & Gas markets; structural health monitoring of Automotive safety structures; improved thermal and sound performance in Construction products; increased fuel efficiency of Aerospace and Marine transport; enhanced user experience for a wide array of Consumer products – from footwear to kitchen sinks.
Throughout my career I have specialised in developing technology solutions to help businesses successfully launch new products and manufacturing processes. I like to keep things simple by breaking down the challenge into its fundamental (raw) engineering elements. Wherever possible, I seek to identify technology transfer opportunities across industry borders to reduce the cost, time and risk involved in new technology introduction. I have worked with businesses of all sizes to deliver at all points of the development cycle; offering creativity to the generation of new concepts, though the design and test phase, to final manufacturing implementation.
When I’m not immersed in technology, you’ll most likely find me in the garden, designing and landscaping beautiful outside spaces, or learning how to make sweet music on my guitar! I’ve been married for 21 years and have two fantastic teenage children.
